Nikah Nama translation for Canada (IRCC)
For Canadian spousal sponsorship and other IRCC applications, documents that are not in English or French need a translation. For a Pakistani Nikah Nama, that usually means a certified translator, or a translator who swears an affidavit. Here is how it works and where a typed draft helps.
What IRCC asks for
- The English or French translation.
- If the translator is not a certified member of a Canadian provincial or territorial translators' association, an affidavit from the translator swearing that the translation is accurate.
- A copy of the original document, here the Urdu Nikah Nama.
IRCC's instructions also say that translations must not be done by the applicant or by members of their family. Read the document checklist for your own application on canada.ca, since requirements are set per program.
Where NikahDraft fits
A certified translator has to produce the final translation. A clean typed draft in the right column order, with names spelled as in your passports and the dower already in figures and words, gives them less to decipher and gives you something to check their version against.
Fastest fix: open NikahDraft, type what is written in each of the 25 columns, and it lays out the English translation in the form's own order, with mehr amounts in words and a translator's statement. The preview is free and runs in your browser; the clean PDF and Word file cost $9 once.
